Direct answers to important questions.
The academy is opening in Q1 2027. Some operational details remain subject to staffing, property readiness and formal approvals; we distinguish confirmed information from plans.
Does my child need an autism diagnosis to apply?
Not necessarily. Suitability is based on the child’s learning, communication, regulation, independence and support profile—not a label alone.
Do you follow Cambridge?
The planned programme is designed around Cambridge Primary learning objectives with individualised delivery. GSA is not currently presented as a registered or accredited Cambridge school.
What if my child is non-speaking?
Communication is not limited to speech. We will seek to understand and support reliable communication through speech, gesture, visuals, writing, communication boards or AAC where appropriate.
How do you handle meltdowns?
We view dysregulation as information, not misconduct. Staff should prioritise safety, reduce demands, support recovery and later learn from triggers and unmet needs. Individual safeguarding and support plans still apply.
Do you use punishment or forced eye contact?
No. The planned model does not use forced eye contact or punish sensory overwhelm. Expectations and supports are taught with dignity and adjusted to the learner.
How many children are in a class?
Groups will be intentionally small, but final class size and ratios will only be published after the operating model and staffing are confirmed.
Does therapy happen every day?
Therapeutic thinking can influence the school day, but direct therapy type and frequency depend on individual need, professional recommendations, availability and the agreed programme.
Can my child transition to mainstream school?
Transition may be explored when appropriate, but no placement or timeline can be guaranteed. The priority is a pathway that fits the individual child.
Are meals and transport provided?
These services are being planned. Confirmed arrangements and any additional fees will be communicated before enrolment.
How do parents receive progress updates?
The final model will include structured communication and multidisciplinary review. Exact frequency will be confirmed before opening.
Your child doesn’t need to become someone else to learn.
Begin with a conversation about how they learn, communicate and participate.
